Air China starts non-stop post-quake Beijing-Yushu flights
Air China has launched a non-stop flights from Beijing to Yushu to assist in the post-earthquake reconstruction, adding to its 11 charter flights and 24 regular flights delivering 989 relief staff and 142 tons of relief since the disaster struck on April 14.
The quake hit Yushu in Qinghai province bordering Tibet, killing 2,700 with 270 reported missing and 12,135 injured, 1,434 severely The epicentre was 30 kilometres from Gyegu, the Yushu county seat, in the sparsely populated land on the quake-prone Tibetan plateau.
The new Air China route deploys an Airbus 319, flight number CA1275/6 equipped with Required Navigation Performance (RNP) technology tailored for altiplano flights. Flights are available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Flights to Yushu from Beijing at 0715 hrs and arrive at 1030 hrs. Return flights depart from Yushu at 1120 hrs and arrive in Beijing at 1425 hrs. Flights are available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
