CMA CGM aims to raise host of transpacific rates, starting March 15
FRENCH shipping line CMA CGM has announced planned rate hikes on its eastbound transpacific services in keeping with similar moves by the other carrier members of the Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement.
Effective from March 15, CMA CGM plans to raise rates for transporting sea freight from Asia to all US destinations (including intermodal) by US$240 per TEU, $300 per FEU, $340 per 40-foot high-cube, $380 per 45-footers and $480 per 53-footers.
This will be followed by further rate increases to be implemented from May 1 of $400 per TEU, $500 per FEU, $565 per 40-foot high-cube, $635 per 45 footers and $800 per 53 footers.
For the trade from Asia to Canada, starting from March 15, the rate hikes will be: $320 per TEU, $400 per FEU, $450 per 40-foot high-cube container, and $510 per 45-foot container.
Again the rates will be pushed up further on May 1 when they will be raised by $560 per TEU, $700 per FEU, $790 per 40 foot high-cube, $890 per 45 footer and $1,120 per 53 footer.
In addition, for the trade from the US to Australia and New Zealand, the rate hike effective from April 1 will be $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
Starting March 15, the rate hike on the trade from Asia to East Africa (Mombasa and Dar es Salaam) will be $200 per TEU. From Asia to the west coast of South America, Central America west coast and Mexico, the rate will be put up by $400 per TEU.
Effective from the same date, the freight rates from Asia to the Caribbean will rise by $560 per TEU, and $800 per FEU or 40 foot high cube. From Asia to the east coast of South America the rate hike will be $600 per TEU. From northern Europe to the west coast of South America the rate increase will be EUR150 per TEU. From northern Europe to the Caribbean, east coast of Central America, and the north coast of South America the rate increase will be EUR150 per TEU.
From April 2, the rates from northern Europe to India and Pakistan will be increased by $150 per TEU and $200 per FEU for dry cargo.
